PLAN C - MOCUMENTARY

The Bordon Oak
Within the skit, as well as being even more... extra, we would still discuss facts of Bordon Inclosure relating to first-hand experiences from locals and from Alice. We would also conduct fake interviews (with peers) whom would tell us of their own experiences. However, after showing our first cut to Anne we realised that the interviews had no relation to Bordon Inclosure and were told to remove them from our mocumentary.

Although our skit was well constructed and there were plenty of cut away shots of the surroundings in Bordon Inclosure, which could have easily filled up our mocumentary, it lacked that more serious tone which would juxtapose from our comedic approach. We were also forgetting that the brief was based around community. As we no longer had any interviews to include, Alice and I recorded our own voices, which would overlay scenic shots we had taken in Bordon Incllosure, telling "fake" stories (as "locals") of ghost sightings we had seen in the woods. This worked well with our overall mocumentray as the voice overs had relation to the main storyline and of Bordon Inclosure.

I believe that the mockumentary as a whole turned out really well. Myself, Alice and Izzy all starring in the mocumentary were not only funny but also still informing the audience with facts of Bordon Inclosure, (mainly Alice) by directing ourselves at the camera which helped to engage our audience, thus them feeling as though they were part of our experience. In addition, we extended the length of our clips as well as poorly zooming in and out of shots to create that experience for the audience to feel included. Talla, (who was holding the boom) would occasionally appear in the shot. At first this was non-intentional. However, after discussing upon one another, we realised we liked how unprofessional it made us look and therefore we decided that Talla would every-so-often appear in shot, creating her own comedic character in the mocumenary.

Talla and the boom
When editing, Alice and I worked remarkably well together; Bouncing ideas off one another as well as consistently checking with the group on their thoughts of what we had achieved. The first-cut was 15 minutes overall, but was fairly easy to cut down below 10. The main struggle I found that I had faced when editing was what exactly should be cut out - as I did not want to remove anything too important or anything that I found funny. However, we did not want it to be too comical as we felt that it would be "too much" of a piss take. One other issue was the sound; in the end we realised that the sound fluctuated quite a bit.

Overall, it all went well and we worked well with one another, able to overcome all obstacles that we faced. I was nervous at first to edit with Alice, however enjoyed it and actually learnt a fair bit amount of the shortcuts of editing.
